PDA (Public Displays of Affection)

One piece of American culture that has been shocking and uncomfortable to the Maasai (Masai) on this Faces of Change 2009 Tour, has been the open displays of affection. In Tanzania, men hold the hands of other men as a sign of friendship, but never would they dream of holding a woman’s hand, especially their wife’s. So the American PDA has been quite a topic of conversation in the En-kata Choir.
Then, out of nowhere, on Wednesday night in Kentucky, Yona says to JoAnna “Take a picture of me and my wife.”

Yona & Martha Pakasi

Look at Martha blush!
I think they’re adjusting well to North American Life, don’t you?
Nemburis’ face says it all!
