Grace Church Campfire / Umbrella Party
We announced this event as a campfire with traditional Maasai (Masai) dancing, but should have introduced it as an Umbrella Party!
We decided to give the Umbrella Party a shot, because those who came went back to their cars to get their umbrellas, and those who did not come weren’t there to sway our opinion!
In Tanzania, and in Maasailand, rain is such a blessing. It is also a blessing that we have been missing for years now. The En-kata Choir bowed their heads to pray for the rain to come to Orbili, Olerumo and Orkesmet.
Jacob Mill’s sister Beth came with her adorable babies, and we all fell in love with them immediately!
Nick and his handsome brother, and beautiful dimple-cheek sister!
Pastor Mike introduced the Choir, and the Faces of Change 2009 Tour around our Maasailand-sized fire.
Sisters.
Kim held down the fort back under the shelter, and was delighted when, at intermission, we moved center stage to exactly where she was! This is the first event Kim has been able to be on stage for!
The shelter provided an intimate atmosphere for the second half of our program.
We sang…
…we danced…
…we jumped…
Sarah can jump!!!
And we presented Pastor Hal with a “rungu” club.
And Pam with cards of beautiful Maasai children, to remind Pastor about the school in Maasailand!
Happy Birthday sweetie!
This precious little girl added “Naitapoaki” to her 20-word vocabulary!
It has been so refreshing to be with family and friends. The 13 of us on this En-kata Faces of Change Tour have grown close, and when we meet those who are close to one of us, we all fall in love immediately.
Community really is a beautiful thing.
Friendship is a beautiful thing.
Family is a beautiful thing.
And we’re so thankful to find all of these things in so many different ways and expressions.
May God continue to bless you Grace Church, and all your friends, family and community.
