Avonhurst Pentecostal Assembly | Regina, SK

Saturday night at Avonhurst Pentecostal Assembly, we got the unique opportunity to use even more of our translating skills. Turns out that right after we were having dinner at the church, they have a Spanish service on Saturday nights. We were happy to give them a preview of the En-kata Choir. Jeremy and I put our Spanish translating skills to the test and quickly translated a couple songs into Spanish for the lyric slides so that the audience could follow along. And we had another translator on stage for the testimonies. At one point that meant that Nembu was speaking Ma, Mathayo translating to Swahili, Jeremy translating to English and then Jennifer translating into Spanish. Phew! Never thought we’d have that happening on this tour.

We were back at Avonhurst for Sunday morning, this time for the English service. There was a great crowd, some from the Spanish service joined us again, and Cassidy, Jeremy and Christine’s cousin, even brought part of her family. Lots of fun people.

Pastor Doug Lancaster and his wife had been gracious enough to host us and to open up their home for some of us to stay the night, so Yona presented Doug with a rungu and his wife a star.

Thank you Avonhurst for your hospitality!
